	The Virtual Telescope needs YOU! the 2012 fund rising campaign Support the world leading facility bringing astronomy to all The Virtual Telescope started in 2006 as a personal astronomical facility making possible remote access to telescopes for astrophysical research, via the internet. Soon after, it was clear that such a facility had an amazing potential to share the wonders of the sky in real time with the community worldwide. An unprecedent effort was done to bring these benefits especially to disavantaged people, in critical communities, like growing countries, prisons and hospitals. The Virtual Telescope is financially supported by the owners and it is mainly operated on volunteer basis by them, as more than 90% of the activities (both online and onsite) are free. To cover the obvious costs to keep the project alive, the owners continue to spend their own money, without any other support. The only external, other source of funding comes from donations from those who want to contribute to our dream or are using the remote telescopes for their own needs. In 2011 the Virtual Telescope reached about 240.000 individuals from 173 Countries (1.000.000 from 200 Countries since 2006, when the VT was opened), visited prisons and hospitals, reached students in every corner of the planet, at no cost for the audience. It is time for us to plan the activities for the 2012. For this we REALLY NEED YOU HELP! If you find that our activities and goals are worth to continue, it is the time for you to support our efforts. These are difficult times, you know, and your help is now even more important. You know the amazing reputation the Virtual Telescope gained over these five years and we are proud to see how people worldwide trust in our project. We have a lot of references on the international press, as well as citations on blogs/websites. Just try with google and you will check this yourself. Simply, there is not another facility like the Virtual Telescope in the World and it needs your contribution. We leave to you the freedom to donate what you can/want. Even a fraction of dollar/euro, being sure that we will do our best to give to your donation the greatest possible value, especially a human one.
