The Virtual Telescope - Bellatrix Astronomical Observatory


	Searching for Supernovae The ViTeSSe (Virtual Telescope Supernova Search) program Soom, the Virtual Telescope will start doing supernova searches, using its C14-f/8.7 and CDK17"-f/6.8 telescopes, both on Paramount ME and equipped with CCD cameras. The (conservative) limiting magnitude will be around 19.0/19.5. Observing sessions will be fully unattended, thanks to the robotic capabilities of the Virtual Telescope. At the beginning, spiral galaxies will be preferred and they will be picked up from the Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies (G. de Vacouleurs, 1991), accordingly with their physical and geometrical parameters.
