Virtual telescope Bellatrix Observatory

Research

The research in the astronomical field is the main activity at the Virtual Telescope. We work on different topics: asteroids and comets (especially near-Earth objects - NEOs), variable stars, exoplanets, Supernoivae and transient phaenomena.

So far, we obtained a good number of important results, as easily apparent by checking the Nasa's ADS.

Ongoing scientific activities

- Exoplanets (example: XO-2b, in italian)
- Variable star photometry (examples: EG Aqr, V1006 Cyg, V455 And)
- The ViTeSSe (Virtual Telescope Supernova Search) project.
- Asteroid Astrometry and Photometry (examples: 1494-Savo, 2006 RZ, 2006 VV2 ).
- Asteroids: "T3" project .
- Astrometry and morfological observations of comets.
- Cataclysmic variable stars: CaVOD project * (Cataclysmic Variable Outburst Detection).
- Cataclysmic variable stars: "CBA" project , Italian station

* in cooperation with the Kyoto University, Dept. of Astronomy.
