1. Introduction

The Virtual Telescope is very proud ofits official participation in "Galilean Nights", a new Cornerstone Project for IYA2009 to celebrate the figure of Galileo and his revolutionary contributions to our understanding of the Universe. Our advanced, remotely controlled facility will offer a number of live, online and FREE activities from Oct 22 to Oct 24, showing in real time the astronomical objects studied and discovered by Galileo as Jupiter, the Moon, the Pleiades and the Orion Nebula. We will start at 19.00 UT and will run a few hours each night. All this with live audio/video commentary from our astrophysicists.
