Since it started in 2006, The Virtual Telescope Project reserved a great attention to social activities. This was even improved in 2009, during the International Year of Astronomy (IYA2009), when we offered a huge number of events to help people from all around the globe exploring the Cosmos. More than 50 events, hosting about 130,000 individuals from more than 140 different Countries where run in 2009 at the Virtual Telescope.

But that is just part of the story. Since Aug. 2006, the Virtual Telescope reached about 800.000 individuals from almost 200 different Countries, virtually all those recognized by United Nations. Simply, a record, to our knowledge.

Finally, it was time for us to start a dedicated, stable effort to support disavantaged communities discovering the beauty of the skies with our cutting edge technologies and widely acknowledged experience. So, here it is "Everybody's Universe"!

"Everybody's Universe" focuses on developing Countries and communities like hospitals and prisons, everywhere there is someone willing to climb to the stars and needing help for that.

For these goals, we offer our robotic, remotely accessible telescopes, experience and live guide at no costs.

 

So far, we developed a few areas of action in the "Everybody's Universe" framework:

- We support humanitary projects by running astronomical events and collecting money for them;

- We reach people living in prisons and hospitals, sharing the adventure of our cosmic spaces with them;

- We help young children unveiling what is up there.

More is coming and we are trying to get some prestigious Patronages supporting our programs.
